I use a software called Screenflow for my screen capture videos. Here are some tips for using the software.

Choosing a specific size or area of screen to record
Screenflow normally records the entire screen. If you don’t want it to, for example if you don’t want the tray at the bottom of your screen to show, you can select a specific area of your screen to record.
To do this, you need to go to the configuration dialog box and at the bottom, to the left of the start button is a round button that says “Setup and start partial screen capture” when you hover over it. Click it and you will be able to enter a size of the screen to cover.
You still want to come up with an HD quality video. So you use the 16:9 ratio.
If you take any number, call it X, and multiply by the ratio 16:9, you will get the dimensions of the area you want to cover and still get an HD video.
X (16:9)Â
- 1280:720, X=80
- 1920:1080, X= 120
- 2560:1440, X=160
- 3200: 1800, X=200
- 3360: 1890, X= 210
- 4096:2304, X= 256 (these are the dimensions of a 21.5 inch iMac).
