FlexPace Courses

With SU’s FlexPace, you can finish your degree program in record time! Instead of waiting around for a course you need to be offered during a traditional semester, you can take courses you need off cycle through the FlexPace program.

What is SU FlexPace?

Flexible start dates and the course duration.

Whether you’re looking to fast track a degree, or simply need a more flexible way to take courses, the SU FlexPace puts you in the driver’s seat with flex-paced courses. The flexible courses can be completed around your schedule—so you learn at the speed that fits your lifestyle.

With SU FlexPace, a student who needs to take a course to graduate or finish their program early or who plans to travel and so wants to take courses off schedule can apply to take specific courses through the FlexPace program.

FlexPace is a flexible option for high-performing students, where you have the ability to progress as you master a new subject and accelerate to a degree and career faster than the traditional student at SU.

How FlexPace Works

  • FlexPace allows students to take classes that aren’t offered during the regular semester. Flex pace courses start at the beginning of each sub-term (like other SU courses) and may be taken during the Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters. That means there are five start dates each year for students to take FlexPace courses.
  • FlexPace courses may be completed faster (in as little as 4 weeks) or take the normal 8 weeks.  That means students may complete each course in 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 weeks.
  • FlexPace courses are the same exact courses as those offered during the regular semesters. The only difference is the flexibility students have to take classes that are not offered during the semester so that they can complete their degrees faster or complete work early if they won’t be available later in the sub-term.
  • The assignments are the same as for regular course offerings. However, you have no due dates. So you can never be late as long as you finish them within the allotted duration of the course.

FlexPace Requirements

**Note: A student can only take a course as FlexPace if that course is not being offered during the current semester.

To take a course through the Flexpace program,

  • Students must have completed at least 12 credit hours of course work at Servants University and maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
  • Students must also maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher in their FlexPace courses. Students who fall below a 3.00 GPA (either cumulative or in their Flexpace courses) may no longer take FlexPace courses.
  • All students are required to complete an assignment for a grade within the first 3 days of class or will be reported for non-attendance.
  • You must regularly make progress in your course(s). We encourage students to pace themselves so that they don’t wait to do everything in the last couple of weeks.
  • Students must agree that FlexPace courses are non-refundable. If you drop or withdraw from a FlexPace course, you don’t get any refund.
  • Student’s must complete all course work by the end of the sub-term during which the course is taken. As with regular classes, students will be locked out of the class when the 8 weeks runs out and all uncompleted work will receive a zero. However, as noted before, students may complete the entire course in half the time (4 weeks).

*Students taking FlexPace courses must realize that because they are taking a course that is not being advertised that semester, they will probably be the only students in the class. But the content and assessments will be exactly the same as for students taking it through the traditional semester.

Access to your Professors

Flexpace is a quasi-independent study option to take a course. Students will meet their instructors and hear from them at the beginning of the course and then every four weeks while they are in the course. However, the student can contact the teacher by email, text, or phone anytime to ask questions. When the student is done with the first four weeks of course work, he/she will email the teacher letting the professor know so that he/she can go in and grade the first half of the course. Again, after finishing the last 4 weeks of the course, the student will inform the professor who will grade their work and give them feedback. This is different from the weekly contact they have from teachers on the traditional path. However, this reduced contact is usually more than enough for many motivated students to get their work done well and earn a good grade in the course.
